I will try turning my adapter around when I’m back home. I only tried it once and it didn’t work so you never know!D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

Just been out to try again.
Only 1 way Jlr cable can connect to car. Only 1 way 30 pin can attach to Jlr cable.
Tried both ways on lightening cable. Still same.
It recognises the phone, and says there is an error.MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

Tried the jlr cable with my old iPad2, and it works perfectly, if a bit slow. That's probably the iPad though.
Steering wheel controls work with Spotify. Will, try it with normal downloaded music tomorrow.MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

Maybe they’re just a bit retar..I mean challenged and are late learners it came along in MY2012.
Probably a product management issue - someone is ultimately responsible for the entertainment system feature and that someone didn’t think customers wanted it. That’s how it usually is. Perhaps they even polled a target audience - or two - and none of the geezers said strongly enough that it is a must have feature.
I had the same thought when I had the D4 MY2010 - “wtf, how can they have Bluetooth calls but not implement BT streaming”

Just get a Tune2Air and be done with it. Charge the phone off a 12v socket if need be and stream perfectly with Bluetooth every time.

On the early d4s there was a problem with the port that the curly lead plugs into but I seem to think it was related to charging the phones but might be wrong.
Anyway I had to change the port to overcome the problem whatever it was - I haven't used it for years so can't remember exactly
