Thought I was the only nor who preferred to rent something we don't get in the UK, last time in Canada we rented a Ford Flex 7 seats and electric everything, very nice and enjoyable to drive.
Really wanted an F150 pickup but Mrs DD squashed that idea, why are women so un adventurist?.Displaced Yorkshireman.

Assuming you aren't referring to the LR3 , then it's a Ford Edge
Cost: The LR3 is available on through peer-to-peer renting so is way cheaper than any SUV at Avis / Alamo / etc. Has anyone else used RelayRides? Seems to be cheap and has a wide range of choice.
Size: I need a car for 4 plus luggage so am not getting anything like a Mustang anyway.
Rent American: Good point and I might have a look around, but I have done that before. Last time it was one of these:

Ugly as hell, but way better than the alternative which was the ugliest SUV ever.....the Pontiac Aztek:
Just think, someone designed that. Someone drew it and actually thought "yep, that looks good".Andrew
