Urgent: Insurance help needed very quickly!!! |
|
I'm at the Chanel tunnel and my insurers have just cancelled my insurance because I blanked the EGRs myself!
I have an Allisport inter cooler, deCat, BAS remap split charge system fitted by me. These they are aware of and have no issues with! Apparently because of the blanked EGRs it will not pass the MOT, which we all know is tosh.
Can anyone recommend an open minded insurer to me ideally with a contact and number?
Really appreciate the help.

With no promises but worth a shot, try Sky Insurance who offer modified car insurance, probably at a cost though

They are technically right about the EGRs being blanked & failing the MOT if it's MY07 & onwards and if the EML light is on. But not otherwise. Not much help at all though, try your local NFU branch, gave them a list as long as my arm of mods & they were happy.

I would raise it with them and ask them to tell you where it says it will fail the MOT.

Remind them they have to give you 7 days notice of cancelation, by letter, sent to the last known address they have.

They are using the EGRs as an excuse, probably for the other modifications. How have they contacted you at the channel tunnel to cancell it?- even if you can get insurance you will at least need a cover note to be able to travel. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I notified my broker yesterday that I had blanked them. They notified the insurer who said 'computer says no'. They have been aware of the other mods for nearly 2 years and same insurer, Equity Red Star. The brokers were brilliant but I needed to know I had insurance hence the SOS and its easier organise from the UK.
So now work this out: Equity Red Star through my broker APlan said no because I had blanked the EGRs myself hence the panic. I then phone Adrian Flux who said no problem. The stupid thing is that it is Equity Red Star that has insured me through them!!!
The world is going mad!!

Because if the car is not road worthy then your insurance is invalid! Your are also not insured if the car has no MOT, unless on the way too or from a booked MOT appointment, although you will still be covered for theft from private property.
Insurance, another word for rip off, or we saw you coming, or legal theft, or legal fraud ETC!!! It never used to be this way, if you changed car or address there wasn't an admin charge, just a small increase if the new car was more to insure!
My motorbike insurance admin charges in the space of three weeks, Change of bike £35, number plate change (private plate) £35, change of address £35, adding mods (A chain oiler) £35, another modification (Alarm/immobiliser) £35 on top of the £220 a year premium!! Oh and £75 to cancel the policy!
How the hell does it cost them £35 to type a few figures onto a computer screen? It doesn't even cost them money to buy the paper or post the documents as it's all done by e-mail and I have to print it out!!!
Thieving scum bags! You guys are gonna be busier than a test bench in a plunger factory!
