I’ve had similar recently - it was the battery that had packed in. If you have roadside assistance they should be able to charge/change the battery for you. If battery ok, it could well be the first signs of the alternator, which is not as expensive as it sounds. Fingers crossed for a quick fix.57 Defender 110 XS TDCi

In the meantime disconnect the battery, although it’s probably already been killed It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thanks
Many thanks to all who chimed in....replaced battery and alternator will be done Thursday.
Special thanks to PhilM for offering to come and help.
I note you have replaced the battery and the alternator will be replaced on Thursday.
Others with more knowledge than I will no doubt respond, but I believe that if the alternator needs replacing you should not run the car, until this has been done, as it may well the new battery.

I would disconnect the negative battery terminal when not in use to make sure the new battery isn't wrecked in the meantime.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto
