Urgent Help/advice Needed - Locking Wheel Nut |
|
Its stuck
To elaborate, its one that Ken and TFC said will need changing, O/S/R. I did my own pads and found out how bad it was, so when I changed the pads I barely nipped it up, drove it one journey and ordered an aftermarket set in better design.
Anyway, it will not budge, and the socket slips off the nut so I cannot undo. Any advice on how to remove, or is it a garage job to remove by smashing the wheel I HAVE BEEN advised.
When will my/our luck change
Jason

Hastings, cheers for that, I will look into our favourite auction site. I was told that could'nt be done, and have been quoted for 2hrs labour and 1 Alloy and removal and refit MTR and 4 way allignment.

I have seen locking wheel nut removers in Halfrauds...there really is no reason remaining to consider these a security feature when the removal tools are so freely available. Glad you're sorted. Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?

The only people who would nick your wheel is some thieving little chav or a and they wouldnt spend money to get a tool to pinch them
If somebody really wanted your wheels/car they would take it as our Land Rovers are very appealing to the wrong crowd

My Huge thanks to BigDave for trying, but still it wont budge. We have tried the supadupa locking nut remover to no avail, so left with NO OPTION but to cut the Alloy off.
I know I need to purchase an angle grinder, but can anybody answer the way to do it.
My guessing it to remove the 4 bolts that aint locking then cut the alloy where the locker is, then cut bit by bit till I gain access to the locker better then use grips.
I am devastated and amazed that there is no other way, so at a guess its a new alloy, powdercoat it and hopefully the stud will be ok.
Any suggestions

The locker cap spins freely, and the bolt has virtually no indentations for the key to align. The key goes over the cap no problem, and goes onto the nut no problem, but when we try n remove the key rolls off the nut and turns with the cap.
BigDave tried with a tool that you whack onto the nut, back no budge.
Luckily it has a MTR on so not as nervous as I should regarding punctures, but have no options me thinks

Big hammer and hit the locking nut on to the wheel nut.
edit
wtf would you need a 4 wheel alignment In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

There has to be away before you kill a wheel
Can you dril few small holes in the nut and put some self tappers in the holes to hold the outer collar from spinning then use the remover socket and try again
It will be a cheaper option to fix your wheel than find another and mess about
Have you got standard LR lockers?
