By the way, did you check for a failed fuse?

I was just thinking that - all this damage and it could be the fuse Whistle

On my old one, had a similar problem - doors wouldn't open, nearly used the emergency key lock - then looking in, I realised somebody had changed my interior colour. Sorted, my car was actually in the next row Laughing

Sorry for the late reply. The upper tailgate wont open as it is locked into the lower tailgate section. There is about 10mm of movement but the upper section will not release.. The lock mechanism is in the lower gate section.

Anybody know what is involved with the release button on the top tailgate? I assume it must be a switch under the rubber? possible bad contacts? duff switch? easy/cheap/preventative change?

I have a problem with my tailgate - the upper tailgate makes all the right noises and opens a little but will not fully release, my car is now out or waranty is the solinoid in the upper half. Any advice will be really useful as I will have a go at trying to fix it today Luckily I can get in the boot there isnt to much stuff in it.

I dont want to start taking panels off I don't need to so just want to check is it the upper panel and whats the best way of getting the panel off. Please feel to PM me with your phone number if its easier to talk me through the proccess

CFB said it was possible but a pain in the Censored

Thanks
Duncan

Okay I managed to get bottom panel off enough to get my hand behind it and release the tail gate it looks loke the cable end is damaged.

I can not believe they have not put an internal failsafe for these components - | would guess a stealer would cut the panel off - it would have been much easier but as I am tight Censored I thought I would see if I could do it. I have no knuckles left as a result - but I am well pleased I havnt been charged £300 by a stealer for the privilage - it must be a common problem as I know of at least 2 friends who have had this done.

If you had a set up like Chris Tyler my guess the only way in would be drill from the outside or if you had loaded the boot up and it wouldnt come through the rear doors.

Thanks for the link in this post as it helped a lot
