Upper rear suspension arm - is the bush fitted correctly?
Hi
Just had the offside rear upper suspension arm replaced as part of the Mot this year.
My questions are does the car now need 4 wheel alignment and camber setting. The garage said no. But I'm sure I've heard otherwise.
Also it's been pointed out that the upper bushing may not be fitted correctly? Looking at the picture from others in this thread compared to my own it doesn't look right. The bush isn't centred in the hub carrier as in other pictures, is this important? Does is need correcting or can I continue with the alignment as it is?
Any thoughts?

Hi,
I just had my upper rear arms replaced last week. They completed a four wheel alignment as part of the job.
Hope this helps.Transmission flush by Geoff.

Plus 1 , 100% needs 4 x wheel alignment done if rear upper or front lower arms are replaced

I'm with them, any wishbones or tie rod ends replaced need an alignment

I would be doubly sure the other side doesn’t need changing first, usual to change them in pairs, poor handling and excessive tyre wear on the edges are the symptoms It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I could be wrong here.. but I don't believe there is any adjustment on the rear upper arms?
Adjustment is by the lower arms on the front and rear?
I replaced my front lowers and rear uppers a couple of months back, there is no adjustments on the rear upper bolts..
Although I did have a 4 wheel alignment anyway as I did the fronts..
Please correct me if I'm wrong..
Although it's good practice anyway, certainly I would replace the other side before forking out for a wheel alignment or you'll be doing it again before long..Disco4 MY16 SDV6 Landmark Black

Hi
There’s an eccentric camber adjustment bolt on the rear upper wishbones
Replaced mine also a little while ago and 100% needs alignment if replacing the front lower or rear uppers

And with the same make and type as fitted to the other side It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thanks for the correction, it's all coming flooding back..
Its the outer bolt which has the adjustment. because I replaced just the bushes, and not the arm itself I was confident in refitting the bolt to the same place it was removed from..
However, like I say I had the alignment done anyway..Disco4 MY16 SDV6 Landmark Black

Hi browny
I had the pleasure of doing the entire upper wishbone , what a @&#&#&#*# job that was and indeed know what u mean about trying to get the bolt back in the same place
Also had the alignment done and must admit really made a difference particularly down the motorway , had a very slight wander which all went after alignment was done

I think I was lucky, as I didn't find it too much of a demanding job..
he Bolts were tight but did come out. I soaked them in penetrating oil every other day for a week or two before the work, maybe that helped..
I certainly noticed the alignment.. but because my fronts were pretty bad by the time I changed them. I replaced the whole arms on the front but just the bushes on the back..Disco4 MY16 SDV6 Landmark Black

Happy days the bolts coming out
I spent hours cutting the bloody things out , but well worth it for the results
Found the bush kit a godsend to use in getting the hub bushes out , wishbone looked original , I’ve done just under 100,000 miles so got my monies worth
is there a particular model / type of Hunter equipment they should be using? I've had it done before elsewhere & remember the screen / printout but can't remember which model the garage used.
It had the nearside rear done a couple of years back & had both the tie rods changed on the front 6 months or so ago so it's probably probably pulling in all kinds of directions although it does drive apart from some wear to the outside of the GGAT's OK.
Just a thought, as the height adjuster bracket hangs of the upper wishbone should I be getting that re calibrated too? I really don't want to start the wonky Disco nightmare all over again!

Hi
Think there’s only one type of hunter alignment system ???
I didn’t need to re calibrate the height sensor after I disconnected it to change the upper wishbone , just refitted it , jacked up the wishbone to 485mm and locked off the bolts ,
Also didn’t realise when I was looking for the bump stops , it’s that white small plastic thing which is part of the wishbone bush
Trick of the picture , the top bush looks out of line, more one end than the other
Hi gstuart
Interesting you mention the top bush. I thought that too. The Bush certainly isn't in the centre of the carrier, it all at one end of the Bush. Is that not right? I couldn't understand why the Bush seemed so much bigger than the carrier?MY16 D4 Landmark SDV6 (The Ice Maiden)
