IID - Questions

Are there any Auto electricians out there who can recommend a decent IID/diagnostic set up that will give me ability to use on more than just the D3 and bring me to the modern age with cars? I work on various cars for people in my spare time and keep coming across problems that arent as simple as nuts and bolts and feel it time i brought myself into the 21st century so to speak, but i dont want to limit myself to LR GAP IDD BT that i can only use on my D3.

There are various tools for coding programming but whats the best thing for this as an enthusiast with out spending £1000's, will i need a laptop to pair with such a tool?

There are lots of generic ODB fault code readers available that are marketed as being universal and will work on any vehicle using standard OBD protocol, look on the popular auction sites and there are lots.

Popular units used in professional workshops tend to be Snap on and Autologic units but even these are limited to their functionality and costly.

Depending on what you are wanting to achieve, you may need to use the manufacturer's own system or a dedicated custom system such as the GAP IID.

I use JLR Pathfinder for post 2017 Land Rovers and a 'Open license" Gap IID for older models, both systems being expensive.
