Fine so it's a Warranty Direct re-manufactured engine.

Presumably you have a WD warranty which continues for some time. I would suggest sell whilst that warranty is still valid, and before WD do the work ask the cost of extending the warranty id there is only a small period of time to run.

Selling the car with a WD warranty & a WD re-manufactured engine shouldn't bee too difficult.

Thanks, that makes sense too Thumbs Up

My warranty is a rolling monthly type with no fixed end date, so I am not sure if they will cancel that after paying.

Well maybe I'm a little naive as I have no experience of dealing with warranty companies, but I know everyone likes to save money whenever they can. So have a go, they can only say no!

Might be worth a search to see what other peeps with WD replaced engines have reported. Thumbs Up

There is a thread on here within the last year regarding WD and engine replacement, 99% sure they use a company in Chesterfield for engines.
I asked WD the question whilst discussing warranty, what they said was you have the choice of who does the repairs, it is your choice, they would not move the vehicle from my chosen repairer, in this case it may involve shipping a replacement down to Tim Fry Question

Myself, I have gone for dealer rates with my warranty, my line of thinking is, dealer rates, it goes to the dealer, should get an LR replacement as a dealer won’t fit anything, or shouldn’t fit anything that isn’t genuine.

Assessor has been out today.

He dismantled the oil pump-all OK no wear.

He checked the big ends-all OK, no wear or anything else.

So he agreed that the snapped crankshaft had been the cause of the engine seizing.

He will submit his report and let us know, but verbally and off the record, he said there is no reason why they won't approve this.

He suggested we would have an answer by Monday/Tuesday, so fingers crossed.

I am pleasantly surprised at the speed this is progressing, I had thought it would take much longer.

Tim Fry are chomping at the bit to get the engine and everything else ordered.

I really need to put a list together of things I want him to check/lubricate while he has the engine out....

Hope it goes well, I have WD as well so interested in the outcome.

It may be the way you have written it, but so what if the oil pump or big ends had wear?

They did seem a bit obsessed with the oil pump.

Before they came out, they had told the garage that they needed to come and check which had failed first, the crank or the oil pump.

I dont see what difference it would have made, but thats what they came to check,

In my dealings with warranty company it appeared a Default position is to only consider as a claim if the fullest explanation and detail is provided. I got the view that it was to avoid paying out and not to find out what happened. There is no doubt that any underwriter should manage his / her risk at least seemed to me it is “always” to find reason outside the policy opportunity! Whistle

Just had the call to say that my £10,800 engine claim has been approved and I will have to pay only the first £50.

More updates later as I am off to see the garage now.

Sorry, I may be misreading this, but where is the car?

I like washwipe went for dealer rates as my local dealer will not fit anything but a new LR engine...…..this was from practical experience some years ago Whistle Whistle
