Underweight jack, cracked fog light cluster and creeping EPB
Firstly, the mandatory before, during and after of todays wash job on the D3...
A few issues raised after washing it. A very light scratch was discovered running the length of the offside doors, looks a bit rubbery and should eventually scrub off. Another dink in the door from another helpful and honest person who's opened their door into ours and legged it.
Moreover, I noticed the front fog light cluster is quite cracked, almost shattered, but it is behind the glass and the cracks cannot be felt We have not driven into anything and there is not evidence at all of damage which would suggest someone else has hit it. However there is a noticable gap between the glass and the plastic of the bumper. Could something have caused the glass inside to crack without external force?
It's not noticable until you look closely so it will be left for now.

Secondly, we were having a look at the jack my Uncle used to replace the front drivers side tyre (completely oblitorated by a nail) the other week and noticed it says that the maximum weight limit is 1900kg. I've not asked him as he's on business in canada but that is the jack provided by Land Rover and was all that was availble when in remote Scotland at a weekend break. Surely this is unacceptable and Land Rover shouldn't be providing a jack with a maximum load limit of 800kg less than the standard weight of the car? Is this normal procedure?
Also, I programmed the remote to raise and lower the suspension with the hazard lights on. Pretty cool stuff, but the car creeps forwards and backwards considerably, even with the EPB applied, when raising and lowering it. Is this normal? Also, will the suspension return itself to normal height when you start it up again, or should the level be returned manually from inside?
Finally, realised that we've got quite a lot of those orange dots on the paintwork which Gareth mentioned earlier. Unfortunately for us we don't have the services of Ken nearby so it's difficult to shift.
The cleaning continues tomorrow, getting some polish and sealant on it and gutting the interior.
P.S. a bit off-topic but somebody (I hasten to add it wasn't me though the blame lies unrested) has kerbed the passenger-side alloy of the Volvo and taken all the coats off it, right down to the metal. Without paying to have it done by Chipsaway or similar, is there any recommended way of masking or covering up the damage?2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

The jack won't be lifting the cars total weight though, just one corner of the car. The jack should be fine to use!Ben

Well technically that scissor jack might be OK, but it's duty should be limited to a flat garage floor. I've had to use it twice in anger, off road and its frightening to see the flex in the thing.
Don't forget to buy a decent 22mm socket and 1/2" wrench to suit.

Yes, fair enough, but when my jack is "creeping" I prefer something more substantial than the crappy el-cheapo bit of kit that comes with the car. I mean the D3 is brilliant off road, you would think it would come with a suitable jack and brace (which I've managed to break).

SN means creep when changing suspension height not when changing a wheel.
Agree the jack is pretty flimsy, but then it is designed for level firm surfaces and not as an off road recovery jack. Its for emergency use only, not a a habitual wheel changing tool

If you any good with paint, buy a airbrush kit from Halfrauds and get some silver alloy wheel paint. If you give the damaged area and good wet & dry rub down and then prime, you can blend it in with a fine air brush and then clear coat over the top. Just make sure it is thinned down enough for the air brush. I did all my Alfa wheels and they looked really good (in my opinion of course)

Hopefully wont have to use the jack very regularly. The wrangler which was ruined was only had a few thousand miles on it .
Only confusion now seems to be the cracked fog light

Not bad for the 3 and a half year old bird
Countrywide, the alloys solution sounds good but I dare say our gash might be too deep. What do you think?

And I would get some rubber mats not the curled at the edges carpet mats you have.

Yep the carpets are awful and don't serve much purpose as they simply slide away. Do the rubber ones have fixings to secure them down?
The initial thought was more comfort/luxury feel over utilitarian, but they've since worn thin to the equivelant of soft cardboard 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

Yes they do. And they are in no way not posh looking
Do a great job at keeping the dirt off the fitted carpets too. Benefit from being jet washable for cleaning and will last far longer than the ones you have.
Available for all three rows.
