UNDERHEATING
hi all,
my 06 disco has a UNDERHEATING problem ! this and last winter i noticed the temp gauge takes a long time to get to norm temp .. Bloody Freezin too ! if i dirve around for a hour it will come up to just under halfway (sure it should be halfway dead on) then if i park up and leave engine running it cools down (so much the warm air blowing to cabin goes cool) now i have changed the stat and its still the same (tested both NEW and OLD stats in boiling water and they opened the same time) viscus fan is working as it should so i can only think its got a switched pipe somewhere bypassing the stat maybe ? has anyone got a pic of where the pipes should go so i can check ? or even had this problem before ?TREX700n / BLK Disco 3 Metropolis 06 Auto

Did your Fuel burning heater work ?
Anything 5 degrees and under requires the help of the FBH to maintain the normal operating temperature ...if the FBH was not working it will never get warmG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

hi wiggs , its not that! its still taking a long time to warm up even now the temp is +10 ?TREX700n / BLK Disco 3 Metropolis 06 Auto
Are you sure the viscous fan is working ok? Sounds like it could be locking up too quickly - that or the electric motor stat is US and is driving it more than it should be.
And are you sure the thermostat is really working ok? It sounds just like my old Defner when the guts of the stat had been removed - was fine on a motorway - but cooled down almost straight away when slowing down.Mark.

Not what I find, my FBH's been f****d for 18 months and car warms up to normal temp in 5 mies or so in well subzero, no problem maintaining temp either.

defo not viscus , i hear it some morning whooshing as i go up the road then it stops , guy at garage said too its fine .. the stat i changed 5months ago (waist of £80.00) as the old stat worked fine . i also just changed the stat not all the pipes that come with it (they looked to hard to change). i put both stats in a pot of cold water and they were closed, brought them up to the boil and they both started to open at the same time so i know its not the stat ! doin my dam head in it is !!! i made a note of where the pipes went on the stat as its like a heart ! so the only thing i can think of is someone els (last owner maybe) has had a problem with the water sysyem and switched the pipes some where ??? as it seams the flow to the rad is not restricted just free flowing. feeling the rad after a run it dont seam to be hot at all ? a diagram of the water flow may help if anyone has it ??TREX700n / BLK Disco 3 Metropolis 06 Auto

Are you getting any hot air once it has heated up?“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

not really found the problem but have slid a sheet of plastic inbetween the rad and the intercooler and its better ! totally blocked off the air flow and NO overheating ?? even on a long run . not ideal fix but works for me !! i have heard there may be another (top thermostate) worth looking at ? let me know if you sus it out .TREX700n / BLK Disco 3 Metropolis 06 Auto

My D3 takes at least 10 minutes to get up to normal temperature in the 10C temperatures we're having at the moment.Dennis
