Unable to check oil level - sensor codes read
Hi
Been trying to check the oil level using the instrument pod service menu but consistently reads 'not available' despite waiting 20, 30, 60 mins or overnight for oil to settle.
The codes are permanent - reappear immediately after clearing
At this stage I admit to being a numpty but do these codes indicate that the oil sensor needs changing or is it a wiring loom issue. If the latter where do I find the wiring connector/loom for the oil sensor on the sump??
Checked on here and realise it's a front diff and sump off to replace the sensor. Hopefully WD cover if required.
Thanks

The only warning you will get will be no oil pressure warning. If this comes on, it’s too late, as it will have run out of oil!
I’d suggest fixing as soon as you can.

Its a massive job to remove the sump on a 3.0
The wiring loom fills with oil (just like Td5 injetor loom) which short circuits inside the electrical connector, giving the "Oil Level Unavailable" messageMy D3 Build Thread

I had a situation when the oil level could not be displayed, but I am not sure if there were any error codes logged. Took it to a garage and they found that the oil sensor cable was not fully connected - they cleaned it up and reinserted which solved the problem.
Try to check all connectors in the first place - it should be relatively easy.

All sorted by my friendly indie 2 weeks ago and thanks to WD for rapid repayment of claim.
2 things to note - local LR franchise can fit me in from 22 June for a repair (took 48hrs to get back to me!) and LR franchise in big smoke hasn't bothered to reply yet!!!!! I'll not even mention the LR franchise price Club RLD spare wheel protection
