Tyres
Gary from Nene Off Road has ordered some General Grabber 255x60x18 BUT he cannot get them for 6 months as they are being made for him. Ah well, at least they will be available for winter.

They get what they can cheapest. On my day the HSE's were on 18" Goodyear because they could get them cheaper than 19", they get through lots of tyres due to punctures.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Hooray, I will put my order in. I was about to get a set of General Grabber AT2 on a spare set of wheels but I would have had to suffer a 3% change on my speedo reading as they would be 255/55 rather than 255/60 profile on my car.
I spoke to Southam Tyres this morning and apparently they requested BFGoodrich to make an 18 inch all terrain tyre and they refused or rather their owners did Michelin. Do these guys realise how many Rangies and Discos are out there?Disco 3 TDV6HSE Cairns blue auto

If you call Gary and mention my name or Disco3 site, he will tell you the price and delivery date. It is a special deal for registered Disco3 members only. 01604 781187.
They will fit standard LR rims. The reason tyres are available in Aussie and USA is that they do not come up to our standards of testing , so don't try to import them. Gary can explain the techi bits, hes a good guy.
I am first in the list, so don't push

Southam tyres who are the official importers of the tyres have confirmed that General will be making 255/80HR18 all terrain tyres I am hopefully these will be on general release rather than a special run. I am awaiting indications on timing.Disco 3 TDV6HSE Cairns blue auto

I thought they were just wholesalers, when I spoke to them today there was no suggestion of supplying direct.Disco 3 TDV6HSE Cairns blue auto

Sorry I meant Southam are wholesalers. I know Garry at Nene Valey as a result of many months of tyre and wheel hunting. At least Woodman's wheels sorted out my wheels need.Disco 3 TDV6HSE Cairns blue auto

I made enquiries of LR and various alloy wheel dealers including Silverline4x4 and Nene Valley and there aren't any aftermarket 19 inch wheels available, so you have to get them from LR at £350 a go (just for the rims). Luckily I have bought Woodman's after he fitted his Kahn wheels.
One alternative I was going to look at was the rather smart RRS 19 inch wheels which will fit the Disco 3 hub. They are 9 inch rather than 8inch wide and therefore you would need to check that it doesn't foul the suspension anywhere. Best to try before u buy. There are loads of RRS wheels available on Ebay at decent prices as everyone seems to upgrade their wheels to bling versions (footballers wives eh?). I expect that any of the sellers would probably allow you to try one on before you bid. Look good too.Disco 3 TDV6HSE Cairns blue auto

Simon, are you sure the RRS 19" will fit. If so Gary has a set and he says they will not fit. Certainly didn't fit mine, that is why they are for sale.
I believe he sent you one to try and it would not. Also the local dealer tried and the wheel would not turn, it caught on the Brembo caliper.
Anyway, I am off right now to try Garys brand new set and if they fit, I will take them.

We tried Range Rover 19 inch wheels which Gary sent me. These fouled the caliper. Gary then tried RRS 19 x 9j wheels at a dealers and they fouled the suspension. What I don't understand is that I know of someone who has put them on his Disco 3 and all he had to do was reduce the steering lock stops slightly!
I have looked at my Disco 3 and can't see where the extra one inch of the rim is going to go unless the offset is different. Yet I have looked at RRS suspension and it looks the same as Disco 3. Confused or what!
Let me know how you get on.Disco 3 TDV6HSE Cairns blue auto
