Tyre wear and vibration ?

I'm looking for ideas please. My front near side tyre is wearing on the inside edge, and I've also got vibration.

The Disco was MOT'd a couple of weeks ago by a reputable local garage who I trust to have checked steering and suspension components correctly.

4 wheel wheel alignment was carried out a couple of years ago on Hunter machine.

All tyres are matching BF Goodrich.

The vibration isn't through the steering wheel, but can be felt through the floor / seat / pedals. Not terrible, but definitely more than should be there.

Any suggestions please ?

Check the rubber molding on the center bearing of the prop shaft.
Swap the tyres(wheels) diagonally, this should be done at a service proving the tyres are not single direction.
 It can when others can't,

It goes where others don't.

I forgot to mention, I've already done that. Also checked front prop and driveshafts.

Did you check the prop shaft for signs of balance weights coming off?
Are the front wheels vertical with tread flat to the road?

i doubt they get too much into fine details on mot itself - just something to keep in mind.

check the bushings on the lower suspension arms. if your vehicle is reasonably high mileage and the arms were never changed - that's definitely one of the places imho.

Inner edge will be down to tracking. Possibly due to worn bushes, if that's the case then getting the tracking re-done won't help as the whole lot will keep moving around and will never stay in spec.

If it was the outer edge it could be tracking but big heavy cars do tend to wear the outside of the nsf tyre anyway as roundabouts are always clockwise. Anyone who lives in Milton Keynes will confirm Very Happy

i speak from personal experience - and it did fix it in my case. it's not a given that you have the same issue, but it looks that the bushings was one thing you did not look at. it's worth re-checking them - which may not cost you anything in some places - and then make your conclusion.

still, i think the front lower suspension arms / bushings are one of the £$%$^ pain points on these vehicles - if yours were not changed previously, keep monitoring them at a minimum.

Thanks. I think I might change them anyway just in case. I've done the back ones, but not the front yet.

Thanks.. I assumed the MOT would have spotted the bushes (less than a month ago) but maybe not. Could the bushes also cause some vibration ?

mot spotted it eventually - quite late - on my LR, but it did not get to be too bad.

on my other vehicle, i did probably 100k miles on poor bushes replacing tyres every 25 miles. the tyre guy was happy to sell me tyres and do the geometry each time. at one point a different garage outright refused to do geometry basically saying my bushes were completely gone and i needed to fix that first. the next set of tyres is not far off 40k and probably still has another 5-10k to go. a visibly noticeable difference.

harder to say on the vibration. mine vibrated in places and would pull to one side or another, but would be ok after tyre change and geometry. still - i now know that if my tyres go too fast, i am checking bushes early rather than keep hoping it all ok.
