What tyre pressures do people run on their 20's?

I towed my caravan for the 1st time this weekend...very impressed btw..and fetched 28mpg which was a nice surprise, as I usually get 29-30 solo.

anyway..back on topic

The door sticker obviously only lists the 18" tyre pressures for different loads, with the maximum load listing a psi value of 60! Shocked

I checked my Continental 20's and they have a maximum psi of 51.. so I stuck 40 in Rolling Eyes

So what pressure do guys running the 20" rims use for solo/towing?

My next set will be the grabber UHP's

My door sticker covers 17, 18 and 19" rims

Anyway - Usually run my 20's (265/50x20) at 33 front, 36 rear when solo, but put rears up to 40 when towing. Just firms it up a bit, as tried towing at 36 and it felt a bit twitchy.

34 front, 37 rear for me, even when towing my [single axle] tintent.

Whilst we are talkling marginal differences between Ron & Al how so did you guys arrive at these fighures?

As a soon to be 20" owner naturally interested in getting this spot on as from past experiences incorrect tyre pressures on D3 = trouble.

Very technical indeed Simon, but here's how:
It was from my granny's time, way back before teabags.
When making a pot of tea she used to put 1x teaspoon of tea in the pot for each person, then add 'one for the pot'.
Her tea was always spot on.
And that was a very important lesson which has stuck with me.
Hence my slightly increased tyre pressures from standard.

I used the pressures given for the 20's on the FFRR, and then tried running "solo" pressures when towing, and found it moving a small ammount, so went back to the "loaded" pressures.
