Tyre pressure sensor in extreme cold |
|
It's -30C (with wind chill, -42C) in Calgary right now. Yesterday I was out and about in these temperatures and the "Check All Tyre Pressures" indicator came on. The tyres look fine to me. Is this Boyle's Law (?) in action: i.e., the colder a gas the less volume it has. If so, there's no point in checking the pressures at these temps, is there? Good Judgement is the result of Experience which is the result of Bad Judgement.

Same thing happened to me driving round Calgary yesterday. Today with the car parked in heated underground parking the light has gone off!!!
So it looks like boyles law in action.
I am going to check pressures tonight just to make sure. '10 LR4 Nara Bronze V8 HSE + everything

got it in one, LR discovered this issue with the TPMS on the FFRR and are looking at 'sensitivity issues' related to temperature

When in America last easter, the Ford Explorer I hired did this at high altitude (7500 ft), as I descended the tp warning came on. It made me stop and check the rubber.
Once back to lower alt, it was OK
