A small "knock" has started on the steering of my D3 it can be felt through the steering wheel when negotiating bends but there is no looseness anywhere else & there is n noise when going over bumps or a roughish road.
Strangely the problem or noise goes away say after 15 mins of driving & doesn't come back till the car is "cold" again
My disco is 4 years old & at the last service had suspension bushes changed & passed the Northern Irish MOT (which has the rigorous test bench system)
the car has ben trashed over rough roads & is other than that not "raced or rallied"
any ideas ?
the other issue is that the parking sensors have gone very weird - when reverse or first gear selected (auto box) the system just gives one long bleep & has the switch flashing on the dash...no functional sounding when manoeuvring the vehicle meets an obstruction...none of the sensors has ben bumped & the wiring that I can get to seems OK...
is this a module based system & a module has to be swapped out or is it software controlled & needs a date with destiny & test-book
is this a common fault...most of all is module changing a costly affair ?
any help appreciated
car has done 40k miles BREXIT - done properly.

Sensors - the bleep is the PDC's way of telling you it isn't working. It could be any one of the sensors, the wiring or the module.

the local dealers checked my D3 out...
a minute amount of play on the steering rod ends...not the cause attributed
the fault was a brake disc score on the off side these are about 2/3 done - so new discs & pads required
as the brakes warm up the problem diminishes
thanks for the advice on the sesors - am to further examine these & give them a scrub up BREXIT - done properly.

Can also be a break in one of the wires to a sensor - they are quite fragile. Dealers will try and charge you a fortune to remove the bumper before even starting to find the fault. Worth doing a search on here - there are plenty of similar threads. Andrew

if you are doing your own brakes its not a big job to do. just take care with the pad warning wire "be ready to replace it tho" most common cause for the parking sensors is a duff sensor but you need to put car on diagnostic to check which one is at fault always up to somert usualy no good acording to swmbo
