Not only do you have to unlock the doors you have pull the handle to open them and pull them closed too

Thats nothing mate.
I've even started to have to look out the window now to see where I'm going. Never had to do that on my old D3.

Well, since no V8s are chiming in, I will. My V8 petrol starts with the "toch of the key" trick. Just flick it and it turns over until it starts. '05 LR3 (Disco III) Trail, 5 Passenger V8 petrol, LHD, ARB Bull Bar, Warn XD9000 Winch

The best thing about auto-crank engines is that you can't chew the starter motor bendix
on the engine fly-wheel teeth by turning it over after the motor fires up. I don't miss all
that " turn and listen " starting rubbish anymore.
Some EFI systems get very upset if the cranking stops before they fire....old Mercs come to mind....
Why doesn't the diesel have this feature . Any ideas on this.......

'cause it always starts with no hassle
Probably a safety thing, if the glow plugs are not to temp it will stop the impatient driver damaging the engine (potentially).

My V6 does...
But so does my Holden commodore so no big deal really...
So is it just a TDV6 thing then?? What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!

I think they haven't put this on the D3 cause sometimes the engine doesn't start properly! Ben

How do you manage? I heard these fangled new ones have plastic sticks escalating from the floor and you have to use your feet to push on them to make it more. Madness. 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7
