Marc,

6 out of 7 !

Thanks... I think

Mine is in on the 14th for a SW upgrade to the air mixing in the climate control, apparently new SW that re-calibrates the park brake so erroneous warnings (orange light) go away and of course the hope is to be able to switch on my Settings Menu. This is rumoured to a 'feature' of V7 (update) of the workshop system.

Lets see what happens a week on Monday.

Will start to get really pushy if the Settings are not there and I have all you guys telling me it is one yours.

Fingers crossed.

Latest news I have on this ongoing beef of mine is...

Apparently in order to have the Settings Menu the vehicle has to have four things...

1. Hi Line Message Centre - I have this as do all TR fitted machines
2. Info Button - I have this as I have the Trip Computer
3. Hi Line Steering Wheel controls - I have these as do all vehicles with the Harmon Kardon upwards
4. Memory Seat Module...

All vehicles after a certain VIN have this (and those with the electric seats of course). My car apparently is an early VIN and is before the module was fitted as standard (I guess ready to take the seat option if ordered).

A bit pi**ed off now as I should have waited till later to buy my car ! It may sound trivial to some but I really would like to have ALL the features on a £33,000 car that I should have.

Also I have an email as of end of last week from lradvice@landrover.com stating that according to the handbook and their specification sheet I should have the Settings Menu and be able to use it.

Well the next question is of course, are they prepared to fit this module?

yes... and my car seems to be a bit difficult to talk too with their computers too. So the software upgrades have yet to be done.

The latest version they have is supposed to be the one to fix many of the glitches - park brake etc.

I had my rear wiper replaced - much stronger spring action now
Had the clanking on full left lock (intermittent) fixed
Rattle in headlining fixed (emanated above row two where the courtesy lights are)

Loverly clean car inside and out too !

I don't blame the dealer at all as LR are the ones who have 'created' these faults and made my vehicle slightly differently to the others of the same spec !

Will see what they say after LR Customer Services get the info on this.

What was causing the rattle in the headlining? I think mine has this, but it is very faint and I can't quite pinpoint it.

not sure what the rattle was. but if you apply light pressure to the courtesy light cluster in the rook kink it stopped. So I guess it was that.

Appears to have gone now.

My dealer has a D3 badged as 'S' but it is obviously a base 7 seat. The salesman said the badge would be removed as it had a fault at the Factory. I have the base 5 seat with Terrain Response and Auto air con, but no HK stereo, so no Steering wheel controls. I wastold that no way could I have settings menu. But on reading your posts it seems that LR have been botching their builds. I know the my dealer has spoken of 'mis-builds' mostly over specs. My dealer is now looking into retro fit of cruise control.

I have an S and the settings menu was active, although I haven't tried the auxiliary heater thingy as there is no explanation in the handbook at all. Interestingly I borrowed an S from the dealer before I got mine and the settings menu was present and correct!

As for the presence of low spec'd s models, there are loads of entry level models that have an S on the rear. I saw three at our local dealers and I can't imagine that this was done at the customers request. They were easy to spot as a result of the lack of xenons.

Yeah the Disco I owe is an entry level 7 seater with the S badge, I did get what I ordered apart from the S, the dealer seemed at a loss (in December) at the time as to why it was on there. For your information I don't have the settings menu on mine.

Settings menue on a 'S'

I have the S, Auto. Settings menu is there. I can get the pre-cool to work ( with the radio on) but not the FBH, which IS there under the hood. Only opton there that dosn't wotk is the dipping mirrors, for the obvious reason, it being an S.

Cheers..

PS, when I tried out a loan car, it was badged an S, but otherwise it was a TDV6 7 seat base, with the base wheels ...

Just tried again with the FBH with the radio on, and it works... Next question .. how do you switch it off before the 30 mins has elapsed .. Switching the radio off does not work, and not sure if it stops when the engin is fired up.

Cheers

The reason that your FBH worked this morning is that it was exceptionally cold for May last night! If the outside air temp is above 6 degrees, the FBH will not come on.

If the airtemp is low enough (like it was last night), and you have the radio on and the FBH starts up, it will stay running after you start the engine until the coolant temp reaches 75 degrees, it will then go into idle mode. If you shut down the engine, then the FBH enters a wind down period, during which it still appears to be running, but it is just cooling itself down.

If you want to try it again tonight, the forecast is good, looks like about 1 - 3 degrees over most of the country. Ideal FBH testing weather I say Razz
