Transmission fault?
Hello, I have an 09 D3 TDV6 Hse auto transmission. I am getting a fault message ‘transmission fault limited gear selection’ and then the suspension lowers, there is an F in the gear selection window also. I guess this is limp home mode? On the advice of LR I have had a transmission fluid service + filter etc which was due soon as the vehicle is on 95000. No change. I have had a diagnostic carried out by my LR main dealer and their advice is the vehicle was stuck in a certain gear which suggests the solenoid inside the gear box isn’t operating correctly to change gear. I am looking at around £3k to fix. It is an intermittent fault and can happen after half a mile or after 4 miles. Turn off and on again clears fault for a bit. I have read here that this occurs frequently on the D3 but with varied causes - even incorrect light bulbs ?? Needless to say I am confused. Can anyone offer any advice please before I re mortgage the house and go for the suggested work?
Sorry for the long windedness of this.

you need the codes read from ALL the vehicle modules, not just the transmission
Most common culprits are:
Brake light bulbs
Brake pedal switch
Blocked fuel filter

Thanks Disco_Mikey. Have hard reset, changed brake bulbs. Still the same. It has had a decarbonisation so I’m guessing fuel filter ok.

Start with the basics Thumbs Up
Start here, if it does turn out to be a solenoid its a small enough job!
