TransK9

A big thank you to Sharon and the team at TransK9 for shipping the SpaceSaver B20 crate (for the FL2) out to be with me this week.

A simple and painless task of a email and prompt replies back made the purchase and shipping a straight forward process.

With been a forum sponsors they also added in the nice, thick rubber boot protector mat, which will also stop the crate from sliding.

Fits perfectly, to either side of the boot, doesn't weigh much, but feels very rigid and safe for the dog.

Just need to get the next two weeks to pass quickly and Rupert can try out his new travelling arrangements.

looking forward to getting him, as a working cocker spaniel, he comes from a good line, with iirc 20+ FTCH on one side of his family and something like 40 on the other.

I wanted to keep him safe in the car, and TransK9 ticked all the boxes, as well as a few extra £££ Laughing

You must tell us what lines... we have the same and hobby breed - all workers and FTCH on both sides...

looks good... Invest in an Acme whistle and don't do too much too early and he will be a wee star I'm sure... Thumbs Up

He's a Cocker Spaniel from working lines, not a working cocker spaniel - sorry to be a pedant. I hope you have a good trainer to get the most from that blood, sounds like he'll be keeping you on your toes Laughing

He'll thank you for a decent box to travel in Thumbs Up

Embarassed I stand correct in how I refer to him Wink

I have plans to self train him, but looking into trainers in the area also, but I'm not sure to what degree yet, I like my field sports but don't shoot game, yet, but will encourage lots of fetching and running about whilst out walking

You've bought a well bred dog, in car terms you've bought a Ferrari, you now need to make sure you are up to driving one otherwise it will all end in tears and a good dog wasted. You need to go and find yourself a trainer that will help you get the best out of the dog and you need to put all other interests to one side to learn with him. What you have to understand with most dogs with that type of parentage is that they need to be kept busy the whole time or they find their own entertainment and the difference between a dog being amazing or Censored awful is a fag paper.

On an aside where is his pedigree and registration papers?

First and very important tip is NOT to combine training (even if it is play training at this stage) with exercise/walks. He needs to know the difference between when he is free running (doing what he wants and needs to do) as opposed to doing what you want him to do (hunt/retrieve). Good luck.

Ask his breeder who to go to near where you live - looks like a very well bred dog so he is bound to know someone near to you.

If he whines try an old ticking alarm clock in a sock and a hot water bottle. We have a 12 month old Lab who has been a dream to won since the day we collected her and that trick worked a treat, only had to go down to her once and that was because she was desperate for the loo!

Otherwise I echo everyone else's advice, chap who works for me has 2 sprockers and 1 working springer, all beating dogs and he is out every lunch time training and walking (well he was until Thursday night when a gang of Caravan Utilising Nomadic Travellers broke into the field behind my unit (sorry lifted the gate off the hinges)

Whats the old saying?

A woman, a spaniel and a walnut tree, the more you beat em, the better they be!

Only joking!
