what does this mean? when calibration starts the process gives you hint of switching into high range or something and you turn the engine on?
I am willing to give it a go but this step isn't very clear

.
Switch ignition to position II without the engine running
. Select automatic or manual transmission neutral
. Depress the throttle pedal fully
. Press and hold the range change switch for 5 or more seconds to allow calibration to start
. When the calibration is heard to start, the switch and throttle pedal can be released
. Upon adopting high range, start the engine and wait 30 seconds while the first calibration of the clutch in high
range is done. While this calibration process is in progress, no shifting is accepted
. Switch ignition off and wait 15 seconds
. Start engine
. Perform a range change to low range. Wait 30 seconds while the first calibration of the clutch in low range is done.
While this calibration process is in progress, no shifting is accepted
. Switch ignition off and wait 15 seconds
. Range and clutch calibration is now complete.
this doesn't make sense to me.....maybe it should read like this
surely N has to be selected before anything is done as if key in position "2" in an auto you cant move the selector lever.
so:
Select automatic or manual transmission neutral & the range is in High to start with
Switch ignition to position II without the engine running
. Depress the throttle pedal fully
. Press and hold the range change switch for 5 or more seconds to allow calibration to start
. When the calibration is heard to start, the switch and throttle pedal can be released
.as the transmission is in high range, start the engine and wait 30 seconds while the first calibration of the clutch in high range is done.
Note: While this calibration process is in progress, no shifting is accepted
. Switch ignition off and wait 15 seconds
. Start engine
. Perform a range change to low range. Wait 30 seconds while the first calibration of the clutch in low range is done.
Note: While this calibration process is in progress, no shifting is accepted
. Switch ignition off and wait 15 seconds
. Range and clutch calibration is now complete.
I sat in my D3 & tried the procedure as supplied & it didn't work.....
What I have written I actually did....when the calibration is in progress you can hear "things" happening & there were for me........numerous "bongs"
Can some one confirm this is right ?BREXIT - done properly.

What you have described is what i couldn't understand BLFarrar, the steps didn't make sense as had to move to neutral to range change in the first place etc.
when i tried i didn't get a sound so back out now to try your method
pahh either it doesn't work on late models or i'm too thick to work it out

Will give it a go tomorrow. Have to do a skip trip so will sneak the IID BT out of the house. Any pointers in where in the menus this is?
If you leave the IID in the car, there's no sneaking involved Freelander SE 2005 Auto.

Haven't tried it as stricken with the dreaded lurgie that I for from SWMBO and she got from the ILs.
I had a quick look earlier and it had two choices, clutch and something else. Which one do I do first? Once I feel a bit more human.

My manual also has some driveline shunt at slow speeds. I figured it to be play in the TB or diffs. This would follow if the auto is also affected.
I've just found out that my rear propshaft centre bearing is dead. Maybe changing the propshaft will cure my driveline shunt? Fingers crossed.Freelander SE 2005 Auto.

So I've just got my sweaty hands on a BT IID Tool from another forum member & about to start probing the Disco3 in ways it's not been probed before
Disappointingly it's already had the COD & 3 flash turn done so those simple tasks have been stolen from me.
I thought i'd have a venture at this clutch re calibration of the transfer box though as it sounds simple enough with little risk.
It's got 135K on it with original box, TC & TB which all show signs of wear & are a bit clunky & slow to react. Do you guys think this little exercise might improve things albeit slightly or whats the worse that can happen?
I have noticed that since the transfer box fluid was changed a few months back it does seem to have more of a wine for some reason particularly pull away on hills. It was the genuine Land Rover fluid I used as well. Perhaps this might help?
