I have been requested to get a tracker fitted to the car.
What are the current best on the market, has anyone got real experience to offer.
I am currently aware of:
Skytag
Cobra
Tracker (is this the only one with the VHF signal for the traffic cars?)
RAC Trackstar (Ripped me off once so off the list )
i had a tracker on my chop,£25,000 spent on it and not by me,thankfully,so didnt want to lose it,had it no worries for 2 years and paid a lifetime sub,so the worry factor really had gone at least i would get it back, the most i could insure it for was £15,000 ,so tracker was the best for me.2008 ,hse, it does what it says .
Trackstar is the only tracker system which is recommeneded now by LR
Sorry Mr TLO, that is not the case.
Land Rover do not recommend any tracking system according to Sam in the customer support centre.
..my local muppet dealer even went as far as to say that they do not advise installing one at all, completely untrue, it is down to the customer discretion according to the lovely helpful lady at LRCSC.
(Can my dealer not get anything right??)
So I was going to go Trackstar due to the LR recommend, but I am back on Tracker LR4 HSE 5.0 V8 Alaska White
LR4 HSE 5.0 V8 Nara Bronze (Gone)
D4 Landmark SDV6 Black(Gone)
Velar 240 S Eiger Grey
FLTRXST
They are the only recommended product for LR as with other manufacturers of tracker products there are ressidual current drains which have been identified as causing some issues with the vehicles, especially 10my products
trackstar is also the only currently available product recommended for Evouqe vehicles as they were given access to the vehciles at pre production stage to make sure it was all ok
i'm sorry if LRCS has not given you or are aware of this info TLO has left the building.......

When I looked into this six months or so ago, my LR main dealer appeared to supply only Cobra.. I looked independently and reckoned trafficmaster was the best deal on paper. Can't comment on their service. I wasn't mandated to have one, but I went through various quote options with my insurance broker and when declared most of the devices made no difference and some even increased the premium! Only the uber expensive cobra one brought a small discount. Not that the broker's system had all makes of device.
I suppose the proof of the pudding is in the eating and I hope not be in that situation.
Mr t . It's as tlo says , on my chop there was quite a power drain , and it was just a bike , but I had an optimate to trickle charge , but at the end of the day it's your own pref .and what suits you , now and again when washing the bike I moved it off the road to wash and would get a text to say movement alert , I then had to ring tracker to say it's ok , it's me , so good to know ,
So whatever suits your budget , plus you don't want to lose your vehicle , and whatever bugs you the least , dealers will sell whatever can make them money , the way of the world . If and when I get a d4 , new , I will get a tracker 2008 ,hse, it does what it says .

Personally I went for Tracker Locate as this employs GSM, GPS and VHF technology - did this early this year and we regularly leave the car parked up for four weeks or more at a time and so far no problems!
So what is this residual drain problem? BTW we have a January 2011 built D4 XS.LR Discovery 4 XS pulling an Airstream 532 Caravan also own (since new) a 1996 MGF
When 10MY was launched there were a few teathing issues with some systems not powering down properly causing bat drain and subsequent battery issues (11my was sorted )
but with the investigations into this they found some tracker systems were causing bat drains also so combinations made a real nightmareTLO has left the building.......
