Bought four new sensors from Yeovil. Had AJS fitted today and they started working in a couple of miles.
Can't see any difference in the valves so can only assume I bought duff ones. Same shape etc.
Part number on Yeovil ones is llr066378 but can't see this on the body of the valve just J38aa

Looks like a reoccuring theme, Ive just gone through the same experience, fitted my winter wheels and tyres to my three week old Disco but the system wont recognise the sensors which have the same part number as mentioned here. Does anybody know if there was a change for the 2015 MY? On the assumption that they havent been updated and its my Ebay acquired sensors that are duff, where is the best place to buy another set?
My plan is to take it into Lancaster later this week on the off chance that they can sort it but if push comes to shove want to be ready with new sensors if needed.
Cheers Keith

Are the ones in Sturge's picture with 4 valves North American? Don't they say 455MHz? UK is 433MHz as in Hairy Dans first pic...
A bit blurry so maybe not.

It certainly says 455MHz on the pic, min are identical to Hairy Dans, and are printed 433MHz so thye should be compatible.
Thanks Keith
nope, they are 433 mhz. The place I got them from on ebay reckon they are in sleep mode, and need a special widget to transmit at a special frequency to wake them up. Googled this and there seems to be some truth in this, although in the end I bought four brand new ones from yeovil and paid to have the valves refitted by AJS, and they were picked up in about 4 miles.
I'm sending my valves back, but I dont know if I will get a refund or they may just wake them up.
For avoidance of doubt, I can't see any difference between what I got on ebay and this one. The only possible difference was a different coloured ring. This is the new ones as supplied by yeovil:
I'd be interested to know if anyone knows about waking up these tpms valves.

the only difference I can see is the numbers circled.

This is getting a boring now and Im beginning to wish that I'd simply bought winter tyres and stuck with the orginal rims..knowing what I do now that would have worked out cheaper. I spoke to Lancaster Reading and they seem satisfied that the sensors are correct BUT they need the ID numbers to program them into the cars CPU..and of course I didn't note them down so have to get the tyres taken off again so that I can get the numbers. Then cough up so LR can do the programming...also the same will need to be done when I put the original wheels back on because I didn't note which axle they came off and the chances are the system will show a fault...all stuff that you learn after the event..
anyway hopefully that will sort the issue.

I noted the ID numbers on my ebay set, and gave them to dealer, along with £60. four hours later they still didnt work. Did what my head told me I should have done, and bought four new valves of the latest design from yeovil landrover for £240 or thereabouts. Then paid to have them reinstalled on the rims, and they just worked like everyone says they should! Drove four miles, the car picked them up and the warning disappeared.
Lesson learnt.
I'm also aware (now) that there is a program to update teh TPMS software which requires the valves to be updated, which I assume means only the latest valves will work.
Would have been cheaper for me to buy the right valves in the first place then to faff around with ebay...TDV6 HSE Lux (2014MY)

So in conclusion the advice to dump the Ebay set and cough up at the dealer was spot on, had the dealer supplied valves fitted this morning and after two miles the system registered everything as being OK...the forum is more useful than the dealers on this who gave me conflicting advice...so thanks guys!

So in a nut shell, If I buy a set from the dealers and have those fitted to my wheels the system will automatically pick the new valves up, I need to note where each wheel came from when I take the existing wheels off and I should be ok...... just bought some 19" wheels and forgot about TPMS, been told by a dealer that I would be better off using my existing valves removed from my 20" wheels but that defeats what I want to do.... 20" for the summer months 19" with AT for the winter months.......nightmare

yep. Buy from dealer (some dealers cheaper than others), and then they just work.
To be safe, note the wheel positions and ID numbers, but I didnt need that and they just worked after couple of miles.
I got money back on my ebay ones, no problem, but the guy did send me a snapshot showing his diagnostic tool with them showing as in 'sleep mode', but no one seemed to know how to wake them up!
That's why it seems easiest just to buy a set from dealer.... Try yeovil. They were good price and just worked for me.TDV6 HSE Lux (2014MY)
