TPMS Sensor - retrofit to new wheels? |
|
Hi all,
I currently have 2 sets of wheels/tyres, 1 with TPMS & 1 without. To upgrade the set without, is it as simple as taking a set of new sensors to a tyre place and asking them to fit & activate them for me?
Follow up question: is LR070840 the correct p/n for the sensors for a 2016 D4? Cheers,
Gareth

Its been a while, but I did exactly what you're doing on my 2015 D4, you have to get the correct frequency sensors for the car (I can't remember which- 244Mhz rings a bell but don't rely on my memory!! ) and I has reservations buying from the 'Bay but went ahead. They were fitted with new tyres, did not need programming and registered with the car within a couple of miles-all good

The sensors for the uk are 433 MHz. I fitted some new and used ones to my second set of wheels and when fitted to the car the system picked them up straight away with any setting needing to be changed. 1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

You shouldn’t need to do anything other than fit the valves and wait for the vehicle to recognise them. This can be instantaneous or take a very short journey. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

It took 3 garages to get my TPMS sorted, eventually the last one I tried had come across the issue of them not registering before - they pumped up all the tyres to 40psi, brought them back down to normal pressure and within 10 seconds of driving they registered on the vehicle and the warning went off.

Thanks all - I'll get some new sensors and see if my friendly local tyre place will do them at the same time as fixing a slow puncture for me... Cheers,
Gareth

Following up on this - can anyone confirm the correct OEM part number for either individual sensors or, if appropriate, a set of 4?
I've got both LR031712 and LR070840 but struggling to confirm which is correct.
TIA. Cheers,
Gareth

Typical, just as I hit Submit on my last message, I came up trumps through Google...
Looks like LR031712 has been superseded and eventually its LR070840 which is the latest, which does appear to be the correct OEM p/n... https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/l...oring.html Cheers,
