Towing With Disco 3

Hi all, first post.

Just looking to see if anyone has any information that i need for towing with my D3 commercial.
We tow a boat and a trailer weighing in at about 3500kg.
We had the quick release towbar, this caused a lot of snaking and pitching on motorway drives while towing.
We then got an adjustable fitted from landrover themselves, due to the height of the towball itself being our main issue and the snaking is still there, not as much, but enough to notice.
We heard of these stabilisers that you can get, but cant seem to find any that supports up to 3500kg.

Any info would be helpful.

Cheers,
Kiero.

He uses his D3 to tow commercially so should be able to give you some good advice Thumbs Up

cant even have a fag and a cup of coffee in peace these days Laughing Shocked

yep I do and yep I have a stabilser, had the same problems finding one for 3500kg till I bought a "straightliner" from SAS products, works a treat.

Overall height of me trailer is around 2.7-3.0metres, wiz past artics, keeps me in check with high cross winds (assuming I've not been at the cheese the night before, then its side winds and rear winds Embarassed ).

Have a LR height adjustable tow bar fitted Thumbs Up

We get about 18mpg while towing the boat, it is 3.95 metres in height.
We have a Cheetah Marine Catamaran For Surveying Purposes.
That stabiliser looks like a serious bit of kit, will be calling SAS asap !
Much thanks for the help guys !

Always intersted in towing issues......
Bit worrying that it should be snaking, mind you at 3.95m you are getting pretty high. With my commercial I tow a 3.15m high, 1.87m wide, 7m long trailer. weighs 3.5t including 1000kg of water on board which is always moving around. No stabiliser, 60mph solid as a rock! One theory I have when towing anything over 3m high is that the quicker you get obviously the more wind resistance builds up. When you get to say 40mph and over i think the wind is pushing so hard on the front of the trailer at the top that it pushes the front of the trailer up, just a fraction, this in turn lifts the back of the Disco, meaning less rear wheel contact but also transfers some of the trailer weight to the rear of the trailer which is when it starts to snake??

Only say this as I've had a couple of brown trouser moments over the years which make you think a bit!!
