Towing with the D3

Just back from a week in the Lakes - Gillhead Farm just outside Keswick, lovely site. D3 was superb with the 26' tintent on the back cruising the five of us down from Aberdeenshire and back with no effort and in supreme comfort. Despite the worst of British spring weather we had a fantastic time and over the 1100 miles covered during the trip averaged around 24mpg.

The low range gearbox, adjustable air suspension and four wheel drive features on this vehicle are superb for towing and no amount of gales, mud, snow or floodwater we encountered presented any problem whatsoever. Even managed to take the out-laws with us for a day out when they popped over for the day, seven up with a buggy and a couple of rucksacks. The newly tinted windows were a definite boon on the odd occasion that the sun shone through which seemed to justify the cost to SWMBO.

Only downside was watching my pride and joy being trashed by muddy boots and buggy wheels as the week went by, still a couple of hours yesterday and all back to normal Very Happy. A Load cover mat is required for our next trip away.

Scores of D3s about everywhere but no sign of any anti type nonsense like the 'bad choice of vehicle parking tickets' I collected last year on my XTrail Surprised .

All the best

Glad to hear the trip went well and SWMBO was satisfied Laughing

Re: Towing with the D3

Maybe Dexter that the Anti 4x4's are not as bothered about Defenders and D3's.

Possibly they are getting the message about Britains best - although in The Lakes you don't go far before seeing a Landy of some kind.
