That doesn't bode well...

One of the reasons I have an SUV is to tow
One would have thought that this critical LR feature would be perfect.....without having to fiddle with settings.
I would have thought that tyre pressures on a new vehicle (with TPMS) would be ok
Maybe it's the 'van.

Would be interested to know how this is resolved....

I have a humble D3 - but it's used for towing frequently & it does this flawlessly....

If you are to tow a lot I'd be back at the dealers & be talking to JLR customer services.
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Seems odd that the 'van followed the D4 without issue , you'd assume it's not changed when hooked it to the D5 Confused Confused

Have to say both my D3 and D4 tow heavy loads without issue, as does my 1989 Defender Rolling with laughter

Question

I'm only new on here getting as much Disco 5 user knowledge as I can...dealers are reluctant to let me test drive with my 3500kg trailer loaded. I've asked about all seem to be the same.
My needs are a replacement of my current Disco....autumn time....it's to be a serious tow car for my work.
Is this all there is about towing experiences ?
Is there data elsewhere hidden away - I've tried searching...does this search here go into the D5 site & is this restricted access ?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks

Quick response...thanks.
The link doesn't work (but could be my flaky toshiba toughbook PC)
So logged in on the D5 site to the address above.

Wow lots of data already, if it's D5 the route for I've a lot of research & decisions to make.
Am I right in saying smaller wheels & deeper tyres are a preference....again dealers in York & Leeds seem not to know much. Young guys who maybe don't tow A bit apathetic really.
But a dealer I can suss-out
I did my trailer towing training at an LRE place so may venture there to find out
the Skipton one that was has moved I believe. Calling them tomorrow.

Problems I've had with towing I the past have been with. Whiles with soft suspensions. So perversely I would say bigger wheels/harsher ride might give a better experience. That's mainly based around my old Shogun (1994 3.5 v6) I used to tow a lot of big loads with, used to get waggle if the suspension was on soft, flick it to hard and it was an awesome tow car.

I read the "other" post and am surprised that the poster thought all the tech would counter what looks like a badly balanced rig. I dont know what his rig noseweight would be when empty, but 2 bikes, at typically 30kg each, hanging out the back could have brought the nosewieght down really low.

OK, different 'vans react differently, I know when swapping from our old Abbey to the Bailey was quite a suprise, as with the Bailey I was struggling to get the noseweight DOWN to Alko's limt of 100kg. I had to swap my old gas bottles for some lightweight ones.

It just goes to show, you cant ignore the laws of Physics, as Scotty would say
