towing a trailer/vibration

i have a 2005 2.7se,which drives fine,i towed a bike on a trailer with it the other day and when up to 70(on private road)i got this vibration that is really annoying.
bike and trailer are not really heavy they com to about 280kg.
towed with a 12 year old calibra before and had no problems
anybody know what the problem could be?

Towing at 70! I'd say the nut behind the steering wheel is at fault Rolling with laughter

Just joshing! Could it be the trailer is starting to hover and bounce at the higher speeds? Smile

Perhaps you could elaborate on the vibration? was it high or low frequency, could you just feel it, or hear it etc?

could well be harmonic vibration or wind buffeting due to the profile of the D3 compared to your other tow vehicles.... either drive below the problem speed or above it - must be a hell of a long (private) road to reach that speed and sustain it for long enough for the vibration to get 'annoying' Rolling Eyes

Could be pure coincidence this.

Maybe your park brake is sticking on slightly. I have experienced a type of vibration akin to driving over a cattle grid at slow speed, except I was doing 60-70 at the time. I first thought it was a puncture, but upon stoppng in a layby, I had smoke from the right rear brake. I applied and released it a few times and it was ok after that.

Hi all ,am new on here and my discovery tdv6 has gone in for the same fault .it has a vibration when towing but also when you accellerate in third gear .the vibration only last a couple of seconds.my dealer has tried new propshafts ,driveshafts, and now there trying a duel mass flywheel. me my self i think its coming from the rear diff as the kids can feel it vibrate in the back. my disco has had a new front diff as it started to wine and got noisy .its had two front height sensors and four tyres .its only done 20,000 miles .Are discoverys transmisions made from chocolate Laughing they seam to break easy .
