Towing in the snow

On Monday I towed a MX5 about 3 miles to the A3 after the driver got stranded in the snow & ice. A nice surprise today when the MX5 driver knocked on the door and presented me with a nice bottle of red wine. Thumbs Up

VA, any advice on the best modes to have turned on/off when towing in snow?
I believe GGS starts you in third in an Auto, but if you're towing a euro-box shaped ground anchor, then won't this overheat the auto fluid?

Any advice gratefully received Thumbs Up

I didn't tow anyone three miles, but did tow an unloaded sprinter van for about half a mile mostly up hill, had it in Low range GGS (automatically went to off road height Shocked ) and just pootled along at about 5-10 mph once we had some momentum.

Car didn't seem to care at all.....

I am so glad I got those MTR's in November Thumbs Up

I got sworn at by one of the people I pulled out of a ditch. He wasn't happy..............neither was the guy in the L200 waiting to get past, but other than leaning out of his window and shouting he wasn't exactly helping to clear the road Confused

Glad to hear not everyone is like that in Surrey Thumbs Up

If someone swore at me for pulling them out of the ditch, I would push him back in again. Wink

How decent! Do you think if you were in your wife's D3, you'd have been gifted a slab of beer?
