On our fridge you have to set it to run from the car, have you done that? Just thought coz we often forget. Rolling Eyes On some cars they will only work when the engine is running not just when the ignition is on.

Yes only when running on some cars it's wired up to a relay that detects 14v when the engine is running. Soon as voltage drops when engine switched off fridge and battery charging in caravan goes off. Constant power remains live on the socket only

Had mine fitted earlier in the year 13 Pin all works as it should.

Isn't it 7 pin is just a visual check but 13 pin the wiring is checked to see if it is working correctly. But technically they cannot remove any parts to do this so if it's behind the panel in the bumper as it normally is they are not allowed to remove the panel Confused

Our tin tent is a 13 pin so we have a convertor to go to the 12N/12S on the D3.

When connected to the car we have to go in to the van and switch the fridge to battery, my assumption is that the car is charging the van battery and the fridge is drawing from it (or similar)

If, however, we stop and turn the car off, then we need to go back in the van to turn the fridge back on again before we set back off.

That's how I assume it is working - the last two trips we've stopped and set off again and forgotten to kick the fridge back in which has resulted in "cold" being "cool". If it's not working like above then we're just putting the fridge on battery and its draining the van battery and turning off! Laughing

Regarding MoT, I think on the 13 pin is only the mandatory vehicle lighting pins that are checked.

Can't remember where I read it now but ISTR that the fridge circuit will keep the fridge cold if it's already cold but will struggle to actually cool the fridge down if the interior is warm (i.e the fridge has been off while the caravan wasn't in use). Seems that it takes a fair bit of power to run the fridge which is why it will flatten a car battery quickly and is the reason why you can't run your fridge off the caravan's leisure battery.
