Towing Electrics
I've a 2012 HSE Discovey and I'm about to start towing a caravan. Could someone point me to a thread (gussing there is one) or answer my questions below please. It does not have a towing kit.
If I buy a LR wiring kit is it plug and play (behind NS rear light I believe) or does the dealer need to "activate" anything software wise?
I'm guessing there is nothing about the towing hook that isn't just plug in and lock?
LR electrics great price from The Large One and easy to fit all plugs there ready in n/s cubby
You do need someone with the available kit to activate them tho someone with a faultmate or dealer.
Tow ball is plug in & lock as you say

Jarvis, that would have been good but I'm after a 13 pin Euro thingy so D3/D4 dosen't matter.
You need to Make sure you buy correct part as both are still available & needs to be D4 as the plugs that connect to the loom are different from the D3.
Am sure Nick will sort you out .. that's where i got mine from (13 pin!) Cheers Ian

I fitted electrics to my 12MY XS and was told by dealer that all activating did was to prevent reversing sensors bleeping with trailer attached. Pressing the dash button stops the bleeping. I trail a boat and just live with it as I don't do an awful lot of reversing - mainly when launching/recovering.
