Towing - Auto box changes.
OK - Next question.
It's been explained to me that the D3 recognises when a trailer board has been plugged into the car and some changes are made in the Auto box to compensate.
Firstly, is this true?
If so, how much of a change is made?
The reason for asking is because I tow a boat around a lot that including its trailer is @2.5tns.
I'm very often on steep, very slippery slipways recovering the boat, but of course I always remove the trailer board so it doesn't get a dunking. So the auto box won't know there is a trailer hitched up right at the time I need the 4WD system working at its best.
Am I right to assume the changes are to change up revs etc and shouldn't effect my 1st gear manouvering on the slipway.

I don't think the gearbox is changed by plugging in towing electric. The suspension is, ISTR it inhibits automatic height changes.
The only changes to the gearbox will be slow adaptive memory adjusments.

I seem to remember seeing somewhere that it would hold revs for longer before changing up and also change down quicker

Nasher did you not ask the Irish rib.net land rover expert his thoughts?
Or even Lord of south Wales as his knowledge on everything including Discos is vast!!

Nick
I've not mentioned my intentions in public on Rib.net yet, was hoping to surprise them.

I understood; it stops the adaptive action so when you take the trailer off it remembers your normal driving style.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Not so sure about that Caver. I did a 7000km overland trip with trailer . When I got back the car performed like a dog until I reset box with my Faultmate - then it flew again
