Hmm because I've see first hand what happens to a tintent and the occupants of the towing vehicle when it all goes t ts up at high speed
Then again as Clarkson pointed out recently, speed doesn't kill, coming to an an unexpected and abrupt stop does

Having towed with a td4 freeby 1 and been in my bosses S manual so same as yours, there is something wrong with yours if you are struggling with towing.
If the EGR's haven't been blanked then that's your first place to look. Some site sponsers sell blanking kits and the benefits to the car make it worth doing.
If you have any ability with a toolbox then following the instructions will be easy to do.
When was it last serviced as well, as dirty filters can also hamper performance. In loving memory of FA54WSK.
Rest well old friend, your work is done.

I moved from a FL2 to D3 as I have nearly 2 tons of Coachman tin tent that I tow. I dont know the tin tent is attached with the D3, and it wasnt for the fact that it flls my interior mirror, I'd forget that I was towing anything. Man with no D3 anymore, but cant leave the forum....how sad.

I regularly tow a 2Tonne Knaus Caravan with my D3, recently it has started to be late on the pick up when accelerating especially uphill, had diagnostics done last week it showed that the EGR valve was faulty and has to be replaced, this is being done today so hopefully will cure the late pick up on acceleration.
just got the D3 back it appears to have cured the fault cost was £291 inc VAT from Congleton land Rover Centre 4x4
