Hi, I wondered if there was anyone in the Burton on Trent area with an IID tool who would be willing to turn on the tow feature on my discovery 4. I have bought a Hawkeye and unfortinately it doesent cover that action. Thanks. Malcolm Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

I think Bodsy will be the closest to you, or even Beanie..

Have you tried the electrics to see if they work?
My 2013 HSE worked straight after plugging it all in with no extra coding 2013 Discovery 4 HSE Lux | 2001 Defender 90 TD5 | 2007 Prodrive RB320

Well I fitted the electrics. Discovered that it had in the oast been fitted with electrics and removed? Why would you do that? I hoped that it would have been already programmes though it wasnt. So all set just need to turn it on. Can anyone do it or reccommend somewhere in the burton area?
Thanks

As Flack said, Bodsy is around the Staffordshire area. Would be worth dropping him a PM.
Unfortunately for the IID tool the CCF files editing function is vin locked, so you either need the PRO version (not vin locked) or pay to have a new VIN added to a diy version, if you find someone close to you with one to borrow.
I am in Stafford regularity, but would be limited to scanning fault codes because of the vin lock.

Hi thanks for the note. I took it to a local independent breaker who had an autologic that could do the job. It found and activated the trailer modules.
Not tried it yet but if I attach a trailer will it show on the camera where it will go when I reverse.
Chap said he couldnt go to deep into the system so I am hoping the trailer modules will do it all.
Thanks Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

how did you get on Charlie?
The tow electrics on mine were already fitted when I bought the car, and were fitted by LR (not at the time of purchase though). I was surprised at how primitive the interface with the car is!
By this, I mean when you indicate you have a trailer light flash with the indicator light, and from what I can tell that's pretty much it! the rear parking sensors do not even mute when towing (have to manually press the button when reversing with a trailer on to shut them up!)
My previous car was a 5 series BMW which I had a tow pack retro fitted to by a towbar company. It was properly installed to the canbus (as opposed to piggy backing the electrics with one of those horrible buzzers) and was really glad I had it done that way, it was brilliant!
the car recognised as soon as something had been connected into the electrical towing plug, disengaged the rear parking sensors (but used the front still) and monitored all the trailer electrics.
if there was an issue, the car would 'ding', and error message came on the screen telling you exactly what the problem was just the same as the lights etc on the car itself would.
i.e it would display "lamp failure trailer brakelight left" or "lamp failure trailer indicator right" etc etc
landrover = flashing trailer symbol. that's it! reversing makes the rear parking sensors go mad and displays the normal reverse camera.
or has it not been activated properly?

Reverse sensors should mute when programmed correctly.
And you shouldn't be able to adjust suspension when trailer coupled.
Not much more fancy than that though. Odd as the D3 electrics are based on BMW.
Some have fancy reverse assist !

I will be away in the caravan next week so will see if I can adjust the suspension height. Didn’t know that was the case thanks pete. Reverse sensors definitely stayed on though.
Is this something that is done with the IID? Or dealer only?
Ive got the LR paperwork from previous owner so might end up going back

Iid can do it.
Apparently setting it to a 13 pin socket in the options sorts it.
Even if you have 7 piners
Don't test the suspension!!!!

I wont test it with the caravan on the hitch, just the electrics plugged in.
Surely the suspension will still level with a trailer on? Just not raise to offroad height?
Then again I have seen offroad trailers how does that work i wonder? Unless the electrics are disconnected once off the beaten track?

I have 2x 7 pin fitted but do want to change it to 13pin anyway to save using an adapter!

Dont matter how many pins you have. They do the same things.
But the 13 pin setting seams to fix things

Just for info, when the trailer is attached I found that the reverse sensors do cut out. I can still raise and lower the suspension though Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

From memory you can raise and lower the suspension manually to aid hitching/unhitching but it wont raise automatically when one of the special programmes is selected. I can certainly raise/lower mine manually
