Tow Bar & reversing sensors

Have just fiited a Dixon Bate adjustable towbar with the aid of a angle grinder and several large bolts. This was so I can fit a normal ball, ring or nato hitch as required.
Problem I have is that when the slide is fitted the bike rack bracket thingy sets the rev sensor off. It's fine without slide fitted (Pic1).
Does anyone know if you can fit a switch in the connection to the senor nearest the bracket to turn that individual sensor on and off from the cabin or will this intelligent machine see that as an error / fault?
Easy solution is to remove the slide when not in use but I find it very useful in car parks as an additional reversing sensor!
Any thoughts appreciated......

If you leave the slide on won't some low-life relieve you of it in any case?
 Cheers

Nice job xtc. Incidentally, if anyone wants a spare one of those Dixon-Bate mounting plates, I've got one (with pin) that I keep tripping over in the garage. A suitable donation to site funds would seem like a good arrangement.

Good point Simon! Some people put a small padlock instead of the pin, but it's pretty small due to the hole in the pin so is easily pinged off with a screw driver.... Think you are right, leave the slide in the back and reverse more carefully...... Thanks Guy.. How to butcher a fixed LR towbar!

can you post more details of your mod - you have created somefin I have been bitchin about since I got my D3. Evil or Very Mad
Landrover should offer what you have built, a removeable four hole towbar for a multiheight bracket. Everybody would be happy. Removeable to keep departure angles and you can have any linkage, at different heights........

cheers Kev

Hi Kev, Will do, away at moment so will be later in week... Not sure how these mod's stand legally as have butchered a CE, type approved tow bar in the process. I'm happy with the strength of it all and I suppose others have to make their own decision on that.. No warranty given!
