Re: Nose weight: be sure to also check your trailer's paperwork.
I once paid dearly in switzerland, towing a trailer with a haflinger (vehicle).
They pulled us over, and checked. we had 155kg on the hitch. D3 allows 150, should've been okay. on the trailer coupler it said 150kg. okay. on the trailer frame it said 150kg. In the peace of paper that was the rental trailer paperwork, it said 100kg.
Cost me 600 Swiss francs. Payable on the spot.
Also, make sure you don#t overload your rear axle. basically, you need to deduct the nose weight from the amount of junk you throw in the back of your disco.
And always make sure, you have positive nose weight. Negative nose weight makes for uncontrollable vehicles. My buddy totalled his (zafira) that way. He did have the safety angels air crew protection, but it was a close call.
I bought the hitch scale thing then, before moving the car collection. The leverage on the trailers is very astonishing. A little bit of repositioning a car on the trailer makes for a ginormous amount of nose weight. Nothing you could judge by the looks. Couple of inches does it!

Hi all does the tow bar make a difference to towing? As in the standard one or the one in image attached?
Or do they both have the same quality of drive?
Offered it for £80 and wondering if it’s worth getting

your not likely to have the one in your image drop off whilst towing unlike the removable one so if you tow heavy loads regular you need the fixed one and also the fixed one you can adjust the ball height to suit what your towing so win win please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick, thankyou

Thats a genuine LR towbar will the face plate missing.
They will all tow exactly the same, from 1998 all towbars and mounting points had to be type approved so all are built to the same standard and fit to the same places.Andrew

I’ll be towing 3.5 tonnes twice a week from June to Aug
Is this worth £80
Is the missing height plate a part I can get readily or is it a specific part not for sale on its own?Disco 3 SE Manual 2005 V6 2.7

Its a good price the missing plate wont make a difference.
Just make sure the locking part works correctly on the centre part and make sure you get the special bolts that hold the side legs to the chassis.Andrew

Thanks I’ll go buy it then
Concluding this thread...So basically, take my trailer to my local with bridge for overall weight. Then get the scales out the bathroom and a block of wood. Under the hitch on to the scales and wind the wheel up. And move the load around until it says 150kg on trailer (with empty boot)
Then mark out and take pictures of load positioning for future
That all sound safe?Disco 3 SE Manual 2005 V6 2.7

100 - 150kg works fine for the nose weight on these vehiclesAndrew

I got the tow bar but couldn’t save the top chassis bolts or get an accurate measurement
Anyone know what size and rating I’m after please?Disco 3 SE Manual 2005 V6 2.7

and you mustn't use the outside lane of a three (or more) lane motorway.
Not entirely true since there are on and off slip roads from Lane 4 on the M8 in Glasgow.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.
