Tow bar enabling not working properly
I swapped my D3 for a D4 last October having used the 3 to tow for thousands of miles all over the continent. I fitted LR 12n/12s electrics and a detachable tow bar myself to the D3 and never had to enable anything as it all worked properly out of the box. I upgraded to a 13 pin socket with help from you guys on here and everything continued to work correctly.
I have now had the towbar fitted to the D4 which originally had 12n/12s electrics before I bought it but new LR 13 pin system was swapped to replace and fitted by the Indy I bought the car from. I've just come back from there because I wanted them to see why the reversing sensors were still operating in reverse whilst the caravan was attached. Upon checking they found that everything that should be enabled was as it should be.
I'll be honest and I haven't checked the fog lights to see if they come on when towing but as far as the system is concerned there should be no beep from the sensors but there is. Any idea's??
Thanks in anticipation.

There's several different selections depending on the wiring configuration on a D4, it's not just a case of ticking the towing electrics fitted box, you have to specific from the list which type is fitted. I suspect that its this that is causing your problem. Bodsys Brake Bible

Oh dear!
Thanks for your response Bodsy, shame you're not a Southerner!
I have to admit I didn't get to see any of the goings on so don't know what was being looked at to fix it. My concern is that they now want to have the car in for a few days to sort it. I can't believe it's that difficult for someone in the know.
Is there anyone local (Ish) that A, has the kit B, has the knowhow?
I'm off with the tintent tomorrow so have to put up with the irritation of the sensors until I get back on 23rd.FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!

Im sure Bodsy's answer is far more relevant but would it be as simple as LED lights affecting the sensors? my towing electrics are activated but LED lights on the trailer still cause the sensors to come on in reverse.

A very good point, well made.
Yes, it could be that as well. If the Trailer light flashes on the dash along with the indicator, then it should work and the sensors would be disabled.
If the Trailer light doesn't flash (and you have LED lights on the trailer/van) then that could very well be the cause. you need to add some resisters to the lighting system for the trailer connections so it has enough load to trigger the trailer connection properly. Bodsys Brake Bible

Fisherman - is that with your new van (Swift) ?? As already stated, I'll bet it's the LED's - I get the same effects (no trailer recognition, reversing sensors still active) with my new Bailey.
Steve
ps. Even my Bailey supplied 'Ryder' box doesn't sort all the issues with mine so I'll probably be looking to go the resistor route.

Yes I do have LED rear lights on the caravan but have the VLM4 module fitted to counteract the problem. My trailer warning light flashes as it should. The Indy have a trailer board made up to test it using incandescent bulbs and the sensors still went off so I don't think the LED's have anything to do with it. Also it all worked ok on the D3 with this caravan and the same module.FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!

They did say that it was set up for the 13 pin electrics but the set up wasn't actually working.
I've also found my drivers door window won't go up in one shot now. It will go down in one.

The window issues is fairly common after updates TBH.
You just need to close the window and keep your finger on the button after its closed for about another 10 seconds.
It resets the home position so one shot will carry on working both ways.Bodsys Brake Bible
