I had the gearbox flushed a month ago roughly. The gearbox had the fluctuation in revs just over 2k rpm long before the flush but it was not that apparent. Anyway it led me to get the flush done for peace of mind.
I don't drive the car that often but today the 'slip' was much worse than last time I drove it. I put it in commant shift and pulling away in 2nd & 3rd it actually felt like a change in gear as the slip/fluctuation was so bad.
On relection, I'm struggling to understand how a flush can help this issue as to my limited knowledge the torque convertor is a 'dry' item mounted to the gearbox/flywheel repectively i.e. it is isolated from the oily bits of the gearbox.
I have a warranty direct policy but how likely is the garage/w.d. engineer to confirm that a part needs replaced based on these symptoms?

Are you sure is dry?
If the fluctuation is only downward, then it may be the TCC locking up?....
If the fluctuation is both up/down, cyclically, it may be a problem.

You'll see a small RPM drop (in fact 2 on some boxes, one after other, but the second one is almost imperceptible) and as long as TC is locked, the power transfer from engine to drivetrain is pure mechanical, as in the case of a manual transmission.
The feeling is as you have another gear in between the real ones. Most noticeable on lower gears.

Well thanks for explaining it to me
All my dealer could come up with was " Gear change strategy " whatever that might be. Strange how they seem to be different from one disco to another. Velar MY18 D180 S Narvik

I'm in no position to say if it's normal or not. If it is then I'm happy ☺
