On the one hand I hear that Torqtune's very good. On the other I'm told BAS remaps are fine. There's only one way to settle this.....

This is quite difficult to a answer. You really can answer if you have had both options on the same car. Bigcarpchaser has had both.
I personally use Ian TFC a lot and respect him fully, however I didnt use Torqtune due to the fact that it needs him to take on and off - where as the BAS tune you are in control off. I also got the BAS secondhand so saved a few quid

In all seriousness Simon, Neil has said exactly what I said when we were discussing this face to face with you and TFC....I got mine for exactly the same as Neil, and you could have taken mine for a spin
Just depends on your requirements really. Or will it still place you in this situation

Now chaps dont rag me or flame me but, to run the BAS gear you need a windows based machine if a i read some posts correctly a while back, now i dont and never will again have a windows platform machine in my house so when i have a re map it wont be a Bas even though they are just up the road.
i also like the simple fact i cant goose owt up if i cant play with it.

But BAS do their remap direct from their workshop too...there's no need to use their box. They'll remap it for you if you just call in. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

Haha, that changed the subject nicely, Mac V PC, almost as big a fight
Never had the BAS, I have Torqutune, it does what it says on the tin, I don't need (want) the ability to fiddle as I'd only it up, lol.
It's smoothed the D3 out no end, added that bit of zing on the performance and whilst I can't turn it off I have had no issues when warrnaty work has been done. Service manager at a Stratstones branch even said to me when I collected it that it went 'very well', on the road test, that he assumed it was remapped and which remap was it as customers were always asking him for recommendations!!
Like I say you pay your money take your choice, noone has a bad thing to say about BAS either that I have seen, I'd had a few bits done by TFC, was impressed, so went down that route Errr, ummm, maybe...oh bo**ocks, just do it !
