Help - Tail gate will not open |
|
I'm on hols with the family in Cornwall and the rear tail gate will not open. This happened just before we left when it was full of luggage but we had no choice other than to depart for Cornwall as we were all packed and ready to go at 4am. Anyway after a few hours driving and a stop at the services the problem resolved itself.
This has now happened again and I'm worried about having to load all our luggage for the homeward trip via the rear seats.
The problem happened for the second time when I pressed the tailgate release button, all sounded normal but the tailgate only opened an inch or so and was stuck. Pressing the button again and the normal release mechanism could not be heard so I had no choice other than to close the tailgate and try again. The tailgate is now fully closed and when the button is pressed no release noises are made at all. I have also taken it on another drive to see if this would work again which it didn't.
Any advice please as I could really do with getting in the boot? I don't know how serious this is considering it resolved itself last time. 1964 Series IIA SWB Truck Cab - gone

Lots of info on here about this particular feature
If no noises then suspect the micro switch in the handle... if noise & no action then actuator.
