I also have got a D4 commercial coming in October and ordered the timed climate. Apparently, you set the timer and it comes on, warms up the car so it is nice and toasty when you get in. I think it works on the same principle as a truck cab heater (Eberspacher?) and is a diesel burning heater, as opposed to drawing the heat off the engine.
Oddly enough the guy at Stratstone told me that the timed climate in a D4 car gets a remote control, but it is not available for the D4 Commercial - anyone else know whether the remote can be retro-fitted?

The remote is an option on all but the Lux ...but you can retrofit it at a reduced cost through our sponsors 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I take it you have the satnav screen as you'd need that to be able to work the timed climate. Remote control needs an ecu and an aerial which are straight forward to install, about £250ish in parts (may have gone up again though)
Then also needs enabling of course, but its considerably cheaper the 1100 lr want from factory. Bodsys Brake Bible

I have a MY13 D4 Luxury and that did not come with the remote, I did ask the dealer and he said it was an option.
Can you check or has the dealer stolen my remote???

Yes found this out to my cost as well!! definately an option on the Luxury which I didn't tick, not understanding what it was... Only realised when I read the manual and asked the dealer where my remote fob was,
dealer offered to retrofit at a cost of over £500!!
However the good news is that Geoff can retrofit with the remote....At considerably less money!
Top guy!
