LHD twin battery and FBH temp issue check yours... |
|
So fitted extra battery using traxide kit...no issues
then when returning home thought I would rearange the modules as previously I was in a hurry and just stuffed them beside the servo.
when I removed the second battery cover and touched the possitive cable (nearestfront) It was too hot totouch...thought some current issue but feeling the cable further back it was just mildly hot..felt front of battery and very hot..as you know the FBH is at engine temp dueto water flow ( if you have brushed you elbow on it you know its really hot..this heat seams to causethe front wall of the second battery box to getveryhot..thus effecting the battery temp..so i put a piece if tinfoil ( simples) between the FBH and battery box..tookk it to work and back home and checked..now cable and battery front is same as rest i.e. underbonnet nowmal hot temp not crazy hot as before.
so until i make an aluminium heat shield the foil stays
so go for a run and check yours..cant do the battery any good at such an elevatedtemp.
would add pic but net soo slow at mo maybe later
ok so added a pic in mygallery but you cant see the foil....I am not David Bailey.... It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.

In the civilised world, the 2nd battery compartment is miles away from the FBH
Never noticed the main battery getting hot though - maybe it's shielded?
