P0196 Oil Temp Sensor

Checked the fault codes today and got this, would explain why the gearbox has been acting up.
Anyone got a guide to replace this? Easy change or a dealer visit, thanks for any help..

If it's the engine oil temp sensor, then it's a doddle to change. You might want to consider an oil and filter change as the same time, as the sensor sits low down in the sump pan.

Well the oil is going to come out when you remove the sensor (a really easy DIY job; 20Nm for the new sensor). You can do the boy vs dyke trick with the engine cold to minimise the loss and then top back up. But as Mikey says if you are more than a 3rd through you oil change period then I would turn the event into a mid-service oil change.
