Warranty Direct - Would thoroughly recommend. |
|
Hi,
Just thought that I would share my recent experience.
Tuesday the wife calls to say that our D3 was screeching from the back, then a metalic judder. Parks up and the handbrake is locked solid with red and yellow lights flashing and beeping from the dashboard. Car wont move...
I came on here, the fountain of all knowledge and found out how to release the emergency cable, did it with my sons trampoline spring puller and then dropped it off to RCV in Kent. Boys at RCV found the the acuator (or something) had failed and was £780 alone and asked if I had a warranty. Phoned nervoiusly to Warranty Direct and supprisingly didnt have to hold and spoke to a helpful chap who talked me through my claim. The garage then contacted the WD engineers and an hour later I got a call advising that my claim had been accepted and was covered. No quibbles at all.
Considering what could have been a financial and time consuming nightmare, it was all in all an extremely pleasing service from start to finish from all parties involved. From my experience I would thouroughly recomend Warranty Direct and RCV for their service levels.

I have to say my experience with WD recently has been the same. I had the juddering TC and a transmission fault finally came up and overheating warning as well.
I decided, given WD cover to not go down the Dr Tranny route. LR Dealer did the fault reading which confirmed the fault had been logged and told me it needed complete, recon auto transmission and TC. Mine for a shade over £5k
I informed WD and told them I would look for second opinion. I know how my transmission has been treated over 8 years of ownership, I would rather keep that than a reconditioned one that had been punished.
Went to some really knowledgeable automatic transmission specialists (Auto Gearbox in Hailsham) who spent an hour with me driving to reproduce the faults and finally decided it was most likely a new TC that was needed. They took it all apart, opened up the TC, sent photos to WD who authorised immediately. I had the text confirmation same day. Overall cost about £1000 of which WD paid just over £700 including diagnostic costs. I could haggle over some aspects of the betterment clause which I accepted when taking the insurance (50% coz over 100k miles), but overall the service from WD and the Gearbox specialists was great - they seemed to work together.
Overall, I have had back from WD for the above and a failed wheel bearing, more than the premium. But the quality of the service was what stands out most. 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.
