2014MY specs and prices please |
|
Looking to either buy a one year old HSE for c£43/44k or order a 2014MY but not sure about the model year changes. Anyone know when I am likely to find out as production normally starts late August? Thanks.

I would be happy with an XS but the kids would complain about the lack of rear heated seats which are in our D3 SE. Amongst other things I was hoping that these might be available as an option to 2014MY.

Hahahahahahahahaha!
I was all set to have a right old rant on here about dealers and how they are mostly a waste of a good skin and using up valuable oxygen that you and I have a far better call on....
Wandered into ex-Hartwells, now Sytner's in Northampton on Saturday to ask the very same question to be met with a supercilious Business Manager who turned the whole thing into a pi55ing contest that there were no changes, would be no changes and that there was nothing to know or tell.... the fact also remained (according my newly found font of all knowledge) that any new vehicle would be faaaaaaar better than my current D4.
He then told me how I had specc'ed mine wrong and what to do next time round.
Yep, right... Desperate to order from him...
So, earlier today, quick chat with the chap who sold me the original D4.
There are a few changes coming, likely to be clearly defined by early Sept and restricted to price (!), little details with lights and trim details as known elsewhere on here...
Hope this helps D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY
D5 Commercial - Handed back when I left that job…
D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone
D4 Commercial SDV6 - Baltic Blue (also gone)
D1 300TDi... 2" lift, HD bumpers (both), detachable tow hitch, 9,500lb winch, 235/85/16 muds and plenty of other toys (gone to make way for the next toy...)
Smiles per Mile - Tornado Motorsports caged Evo 3... 100" Defender look-alike, with Range Rover running gear - all fully IVA'd and registered!

Thought Hartwell's Northampton had become Guy Salmon?
Was in visiting their Service Department recently and well looked after. While waiting had a look around cars in showroom and was totally ignored by the salesman. Sounds like I had a lucky escape and won't bother them when I'm looking to change.

Servicing in Northampton (Guy Salmon, but all e-mail addys are Sytner, per Martin's comment) is second to none - they really do seem to have upped their game and are good people to deal with. D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY
D5 Commercial - Handed back when I left that job…
D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone
D4 Commercial SDV6 - Baltic Blue (also gone)

Thanks for the advice. Tough choice. Old car will do £1k pa of depreciation and £1.5k pa of repairs/servicing. Still cheaper than £5k pa depreciation on a new/nearly new one over the next three years. That said old car is looking tired and I fancy a change just wish the D5 was coming before the FL3.

I am almost in the same boat as you 110csw.
The question was buy a D4 now or wait for the new D5 in about a year's time.
I'll most probably go with the coming MY14 D4 as it will be definitely cheaper than the D5, all major (and hopefully minor problems as well) must have been solved now and the safest bet with a LR reliability-wise is to buy just before the new model comes out. And last but not least after staggering to collect the money, now I can get a fully equipped D4 which will get me and the family to places that no other vehicle would!
Forgot to mention that I have always been a great fan of the boxy shape of the D3/D4 and I'm not really sure that this will keep up on the D5.
Just a few thoughts...

Thanks for the comments. I note the reliability point about buying late in the product cycle and also have concerns that the D5 might go to the bling route like the RR/RRS. I seem to recall reading that the FL3 is coming in early 2015 and the D5 in early 2016 but who knows....

Replacement for D4 is definitely on the cards, due sometime in 2015.
