G'day -
I've just bought a 12/09 TD3.0 SE.
There seem to be a lot of options that are merely software switch positions. Obviously I can't "turn on" surround cameras if the cameras themselves aren't fitted - but, as a for instance, dipping rear-vision mirrors when reverse is selected is purely software.
Can those options be unlocked?

As the dipped position is saved with the seat position memory, I'm not sure it's just a simple software activation. As an example, my wife and I use different dipped positions.

Thanks for the speedy response. I have manual seats, so mirrors and seats have no relationship. I can't see how it wouldn't be just a software switch.

Michael, there are not a lot of things that can be simply switched on without the addition of hardware.
The mirror dipping on my 2011 cannot be switched on because I don't have electric seats, the electric seat cpu is where the information for where to dip the mirror to is stored, hence it doesn't work.
But you can turn things off! I don't like 3 flash indicator...........OFF
You can turn on day time driving lights, headlights on low beam (not fairy lights only)
If you add a camera and have the right screen you can turn on reversing camera. (plus wiring)
If you add bulbs you can turn on cornering lights. (plus wiring)
You can probably turn on heated steering wheel, (I haven't checked) but if it's not fitted it won't work
It really is quite incredible how they can individualize each car, the technology must be amazing!!

Ah, I see (re mirror dip info being held in seat CPU; that may have been what the previous poster was alluding to).
Cornering lights would be good...
How does one go about switching on (or off) options that are, in fact supported by the available hardware?
