Reverse signal for GVIF install

I'm half way through a GVIF install and I've found all the information I need on this forum to complete the install.

However, most people are getting the reverse signal way back at the actual taillight.
I'm just wondering if there is a better place to pickup the signal closer to where the gvif will be installed. ie. the passenger seat.
I'm assuming the gear shift probably has a reverse signal wire for example.

Anyone know where a better place to pickup the signal might be?

If running to the back is the easiest way, I'm also thinking the trailer wiring must have a reverse signal and is probably easier to tap than the taillight pigtails.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Be interested in this myself as I was thinking the same thing. Was going to go of the gearbox switch.

All the one I have installed I have used the rear light source, its easy to connect and the cable is easily routed to the front down the side of the car to the gvif unit, takes 5 mins to run it under and behind the trim.

Flack Thumbs Up

Cheers Wiggs hadn't thought of the fuse box, you can't get much more local than that. Bow down Thumbs Up

Thanks Wiggs.

Great idea. Found the reverse light fuse and used a "add a fuse" to add a circuit to the reverse trigger

Tbh it's not better than running from
The rear. But it does avoid modifying the original harness which is good enough for me.

Thanks for the input guys.
