What size Mud tyres for 17 " wheels
I have finally purchased some 17" factory wheels (ebay), now I need to decide what are the best mud tyres to put on them. I am leaning toward Cooper STT, however Icant decide on which size. 245/70/17 or 265/70/17. Any Recommendations?????

Hi Simon,
I was just browsing through and noticed that you consider them the best. Do you have any pics of them fitted t 17 inch wheels. Are they more aggressive than STT's.

BTW - I think the Cooper STT is slightly more aggressive - but the MTR has been around longer...

The most aggressive 265/70/17 you can fit in Aussie is probably the Maxxis Bighorn. In the flesh, it has as much void between the lugs as a Super Swamper, with a 19/32" tread depth (a bit more than the STT and the Mickey Thompson MTZ). Supposed to be pretty quiet too.

Now - 2010 RRS 3.0 TDV6, rimini red, 18" rims + Cooper LTZ, rear eLocker, Spider tuning box, GOE protection plates and rock sliders, GOE 3way shortened rods.
I think HORTO has these tyres on BMW wheels he bought off e-bay for around $6oo (rims only, I think). They look good (except for the blue & white chevron on the hubs. A bit of black paint/texta could do the jobby on that though). I believe wheel nuts could be a prob though. (studs not long enough.)

2005 TDV6 S with Terrain Response (& all that entails), Tasmods (gorn). 2008 TDV6 HSE (gone). A Dark Side umbrella (here) & car (here).
Simon, PCH's rims are the same as mine Performance Wheels BB6 17*8. (about $300 each).
I've got 245/70 STT"s. Very happy with them.
Within legal requirements for diameter as well.
Depends what you want to do really. For some stuff a wider tyre is better, but a lot of the stuff here is soft sand and for that a narrower tyre is often better.
They're quite quiet (unless you've got the uneven geometry problem, then they're deafening!)Have a nice day!
