Sidelight upgrade

Hi there,
Since being interested in de-tango'ing my headlights, I was wondering if it would be possible to fit some kind of small xenon light in that small sidelight space instead of just replacing the standard bulb with a LED bulb (which I don't like when not in use).
I was thinking maybe the kind that are used on motorbikes...
Any thoughts?

Yes, my thoughts also, but what would be the maximum space in the sidelights area that can be used? +adjusting the reflector)
There seem to exist some pretty small xenon contraptions that possibly would do the trick and be a nicer match with the rest of the headlights (colour temp-wise...)

these ones seem ok:

35W HID is full headlight brightness. Shine that out of the sidelight lamp and you'll be blinding people. Exclamation

I can't really understand why you find the LEDs so objectionable when turned off? How many people are going to pay it the slightest bit of attention anyway? Confused

Have a look here and give Steve a call if in doubt - he will clarify what fits.

Thx, I did have a look at those, but that is just what I want to avoid. (the 'yellow dotted lensless LED bulb look')
I want something that is a little more inconspicuous when not in use during the day. I've seen a lot of bulb LED replacement that are not so appealing during daytime. I'm sure there must be a way to fix that, by using LEDs or Xenons with a nice lens/housing that match the look of the other lenses in the headlight unit (both in shape and colour temp)

Anyone knows the Kelvin colour output temperature of the Dip/High beams?

My search continues...

Well, I do for starters. Whistle Guess again it's a matter of taste isn't it. No offence to anyone though..

I have replaced my sidelights at one point with LED's, but pulled them out again, because they just didn't seem to be 'genuine' for lack of another word.
The colour wasn't matching and when not in use, they were to 'striking'. Maybe I'll put something together myself with LEDs and a lens from something else.

I'll keep you posted if I find something to my taste!

I do understand what you mean, but I just don't fret over it, and would have thought very, very few people do. Thumbs Up

Forget Xenon; it's too bright. Halogen could only colour match with an extreme loss of output so would be very, very dim. Finding an aesthetically acceptable LED bulb is your only option. Wink

The colour temperature of the headlights will be 4300k, 5000k or 6000k according to which bulbs you have fitted. 4300k is OE and has the highest luminous efficacy for HID. LEDs have the highest luminous efficacy at 6000k, so many are such unless otherwise specified. Thumbs Up
